Outline

The review process is made efficient and easy within Evolve. In this article, we'll walk you through the review process for courses, as well as how you can comment on finished work to provide feedback to teammates.

Add reviewers


Before your course is placed in review state, ensure that your reviewers have an Evolve account. You have the ability to add an unlimited number of reviewers to your Evolve instance at no extra cost.

Follow the steps below to create accounts for your reviewers:

  1. Click the My Profile icon in the top right-hand corner of your screen then click Manage Users.
  2. Click the Add User button.
  3. Enter the reviewers' details create a password for them

  4. Change their role type to Reviewer

  5. Click Add User.

Create a review


Follow the steps below to create a review:

  1. Enable Comments.

  2. Go to Settings and click Manage Reviews.

  3. Click Create Review.

  4. Enter a name for the review — this may the first review of many so be sure to name it clearly.

  5. Decide whether to enable Allow Reviewers To See All Comments. This will mean that users with the Reviewer role will be able to see all comments made on a course, including any comments made on a course prior to the course being put up for review.

  6. Select the users you wish to include in the review.

  7. Click Create.

  8. Once the review is created you can add additional reviewers by clicking Add Reviewer.

As a note, you can also change the settings to allow reviewers to see all comments. To view the review you have created click the View in Reviews button.

Once you have created your review, reviewers will receive an email notifying them of the new review along with two links: one to view reviews and another to review the course in live preview.

Heads Up!

The Review Overview Panel is visible in the review live preview (accessible from the review by selecting Load Review or via the link in the reviewer notification email).

View a review


To view a review on a course, click Reviews in the top navigation of Evolve. Once there, you can search for your review and open the live preview by clicking Load Review.

Summary tab


Reviewers should leave an overall summary of their feedback on this page and mark the review as passed (if applicable).

Comments tab


  • Comments will be pulled from comments made directly in the live preview review (only course-wide comments should be added here — not block/article-specific, etc).

  • If "review only comments" is turned off all comments made on a course will be visible. This will include comments made before a course has been put up for review. This will be visible to all types of users if the toggle has been enabled when creating the review.

  • Turn on "hide resolved" to hide any comments that have been marked as resolved.

Settings tab


  • Choose to set the review as complete and pick from the 3 options in the popup.

  • Send a feedback reminder to all reviewers that haven’t left any feedback yet.

Enabling comments


In order to turn on the Comments functionality, you will need to click on the Comments button in the top toolbar of your course and enable Show Comments in Live Preview.

Comments can be made in the course editor, live preview, and the comments popup.

Live Preview: To add comments during live preview the Comments functionality must be turned on.

Comments in editor: Add comments when editing the course using the comments panel on the right-hand side of the screen.

All comments made in a course are visible on the live preview and comments panel.

Manage comments


When putting up a course for review you may hide any comments made outside of a course review.

To manage comments, start by clicking on the Comments button in the top toolbar of your course:

  • Comment directly to other users by using the @ functionality.

  • Edit or delete comments using the menu icon (3 dots) in a comment.

  • Reply to comments to keep discussions in one thread.

  • Resolve a comment once complete - keep the ‘hide resolved’ toggle on to keep your comments organized.

  • Filter comments by user (the user that created the comment) and by @mentions (users that have been mentioned in a comment).

  • If you have any unresolved comments click the View Page/Article/Block button on a comment; you’ll be taken directly to the item so you can easily resolve it.
