Outline

Audio activities allow for greater flexibility and versatility in your content offerings. They are especially useful as an alternative to live video sessions or standard written content.

In this article, we’ll dive into how to create and manage an audio activity.

  1. Head over to your admin dashboard.

  2. Click Content > +New.

  3. Click Audio in the dropdown menu.

  4. Name your audio file.

  5. Upload your audio file. The file size limit is 3GB.

  6. Click Create.

Once your audio file is uploaded, it will begin processing. During that time, you have the option to add a description to the audio file if applicable.

The Audio activity height is set to 300px.

The audio will appear at the top of your activity within the page header, with the uploaded cover image for the audio on display.

Alternatively, if a cover image is not added to your audio, the activity will not display a cover image.

Heads Up!

When you create audio activities, data for reporting will be included in the Enrollment Video Statuses reports unless you scope the query to a specific activity or add a "subtype is video" condition.

Property Settings

Upload a Cover Image

Upload a cover image for your audio file within the Properties > General > Display > Cover Art settings menu.

Upload Captions

Upload captions within the Properties > Advanced > Advanced File Properties settings of your activity. The caption file must be WebVTT format (*.vtt).

Allow Public View

Set your audio activity to public view within the Properties > Catalog > Public Properties > Public View settings menu.

Public audio activities will prompt users to sign in or create an account before they can stream content.

Auto-Completion

To enable or disable auto-completion for this activity type, head over to the Properties > Enrollment > Auto Complete Audio settings. Please note that enabling this will automatically complete an audio activity once there are 30 seconds remaining in the audio, or 6 seconds remaining for audio under 1 minute long.

The Learner Experience

When a learner navigates to their audio activity, they’ll see the audio file — displayed with cover art if added — in addition to any descriptions added to the audio activity.

If the activity is set to public view and the learner is not logged in, they will be prompted to log in when they press the play button. Learners are able to mark an audio activity as complete unless the Auto Complete Audio property has been enabled for the activity.
