Award Credly Badges in Intellum

Connecting Credly to the Intellum platform expands your credentialing capabilities in the platform by letting you assign Credly Badges to the credentials issued to learners for successful completion of your learning content.
This article briefly outlines the creation of Badge Templates in Credly for application in the Intellum platform. It walks you through assigning an existing Credly badge template to the credentials experience of Intellum learning content and highlights best practices for working with Credly badge templates in the Intellum platform.
Things to note:
After assigning Credly badges to an activity credential, do not uncheck Credential Awards for the activity. Doing so will delete all previously earned badges for the activity.
Badge templates must be added to Credly before they are available for assignment in Intellum.
It may take up to 15 minutes before any newly created badge templates are available in Intellum.
Create a Badge Template in Credly
You'll follow these steps to add a new badge template to Credly:
- Navigate to Organization>Badges within Credly.
- Select the Templates tab.
- Click Create Template to add a new badge template to Credly.
On the Create Template page, you'll add all of the relevant and required information to create the new badge template.

Assign Credly Badges to Credential Properties
Follow these steps to assign a Credly badge to the credential experience of learning activities in the Intellum platform:
- Access the Gamification properties of an activity in the Intellum platform and locate the Award Properties section.
- Enable Award a credential on Completion. Define credential information as needed.
- Scroll to find and review available Credly badge templates using the Credly Badge dropdown menu. Select the Credly badge template that should be awarded to the learner on completion.
Heads up!
After assigning Credly badges to an activity credential, do not uncheck Credential Awards for the activity. Doing so will delete all previously earned badges for the activity.
Badge template best practices
The naming convention of your badge templates in Credly can have an impact on the experience of assigning Credly badges in the Intellum platform.
Keep the following items in mind when creating and managing your Credly badges:
- A clear naming convention can make it easier to choose the correct Credly badge in the dropdown menu in Intellum
- As you grow your badge collections, the Credly Badge dropdown menu in Intellum will also grow, so clear naming is crucial for findability
- You cannot type into the dropdown menu to search the list of Credly badges. You must scroll and locate the appropriate Credly badge
