Use letter triggers with activities or events to automatically send an email when a specific action takes place in the platform. Each letter trigger type offers timing and offset options that help you customize exactly when the letter is triggered - down to the minute for some event trigger types.

Heads Up!
Enrollment, completion, and award triggers occur overnight and not immediately when passed by an admin or the system. Only if a user directly passes a trigger will the trigger occur immediately.
Activity letter triggers
Below are the trigger timing options broken down by trigger types for activities; timing offset options are included - if available:

Enrollment and Completed letter triggers feature a 3-day lookback window based on an enrollment creation date or enrollment completion date.
In-Progress triggers
Enrollment trigger
- On Enrollment - trigger an email immediately upon enrollment
- After Enrollment - trigger an email at a defined time after enrollment
- Add a time interval in days, weeks, or months
Due Date Reminder trigger
- On Due Date - trigger an email on the assigned due date
- Before Due Date - trigger an email at a defined time before an assigned due date
- Add a time interval in days, weeks, or months
- After Due Date - trigger an email at a defined time after an assigned due date
- Add a time interval in days, weeks, or months
Due Date Reminder triggers offer a Repeat option which allows the email to be automatically triggered every week, every other day, or every day until an activity is completed.
Completed triggers
Failed, Passed, Dropped, No Show, or Any Completed trigger
- On Completion - trigger an email immediately upon completion
- After Completion - trigger an email at a defined time after a completion
- Add a time interval in days, weeks, or months
Award triggers
Expiration
- On Expiration Date - trigger an email immediately upon award expiration
- Before Expiration Date - trigger an email at a defined time before an award expires
- After Expiration Date - trigger an email at a defined time after an award expires
- Add a time interval in days, weeks, or months
Expiration triggers offer a Repeat option which allows the email to be automatically triggered every week, every other day, or every day until an award expires.

Heads Up!
On Completion triggers only work at the Activity level (not Path or Collection level) for any completion status (such as Passed or Failed). The Passed or Failed triggers are sent in the nightly batch.
