WCAG Certification

Intellum is committed to web accessibility and the user experience of our platform. Accessibility for the web means making sure that all users, including those who have different abilities, can access and use information and applications. Note the following important references from the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium):

As a commitment to both achieve and maintain compliance over time, Intellum has enlisted the services of Ability Inc. (formerly Online ADA), a national leader in digital accessibility consulting services. Beginning in 2019, the Intellum Platform user experience was submitted to Ability Inc. for a thorough review. Since that time the platform has been audited on a regular basis to identify any WCAG violations, which our team has fixed and been confirmed by Ability Inc. Collective testing has included:

  • Screen-reader testing with NVDA and/or JAWS
  • Keyboard-only navigation testing (no mouse and no screen-reader)
  • Mobile-reflow testing (mobile-responsiveness)
  • Technical auditing (a multi-dozen point inspection of all unique templates and user journeys)
  • Automated scanning with the A11y Toolbox software suite
  • Random sampling testing, where relevant

Intellum Platform

Intellum has consistently achieved compliance, and the **Intellum Platform** maintains WCAG 2.1 Levels A and AA Accessibility Certification. This was most recently renewed in August 2024, following an accessibility audit of the platform and social features. Click below to view Intellum's certification:

Recent accessibility improvements include:

  • Alt Text for Images: Users can now add alt text to images in social feeds, ensuring that individuals who use screen readers can understand the meaning of the content.
  • Keyboard Navigation: The platform has been optimized for navigation without a mouse, allowing users to use the Tab key, arrow keys, and Enter/Escape commands to interact with menus and links.
  • Color Contrast: UI menus are designed with strong color contrast between text and backgrounds, assisting users who have difficulty distinguishing colors.
  • Component-Based Foundation: The UI is built using modular components, enabling the engineering team to confirm and improve accessibility at a small, repeatable level.
  • Code-Level Testing: JavaScript tests are integrated into each component to prevent bugs and ensure that accessibility features are consistently accounted for.

Digital accessibility is fluid and many of the WCAG guidelines are open to reasonable, case-by-case, best-faith interpretations. If, for any reason, you feel like a part of this platform isn't meeting compliance standards, or could have its accessibility improved, please reach out to us and we will promptly and sincerely review your feedback.

Evolve

Intellum’s authoring application, Evolve, enables content creation with components that meet the vast majority of Level AAA requirements (the highest standard). Click below to view the Evolve course content certification, updated May 2026:

EAA Compliance

Intellum is aware of and has reviewed the European Accessibility Act (EAA). Generally speaking, Intellum’s solutions do not fall directly within the scope of the EAA, as the EAA's primary focus is on business-to-consumer (B2C) offerings. Business-to-business (B2B) platforms, particularly those restricted to defined user groups such as employees, partners, or other contracted users, are typically outside the EAA’s direct scope. This includes the Intellum Platform.

However, the EAA relies heavily on the WCAG 2.1 Level AA standard as a baseline for digital accessibility. Intellum is committed to aligning with recognized accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.1 Level AA, and will continue to monitor the EAA and related national laws to support our clients’ compliance obligations where applicable.
